The Midwest Wether Goat Series (MWGS) is a set of four shows and a showmanship contest at which youth show their wether goats to accumulate points over the course of the summer. The series is sponsored by local goat associations, breeders, feed companies, and other friends of the goat industry. |

Rules:
1) The 2011 series will consist of:

Ohio State Fair Junior Wether Show July 23rd, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio
2) Divisions (Age as of January 1)
Junior 10 & under
Intermediate 11-13
Senior 14-18.
3) The two highest placing wethers of an exhibitor will contribute to the individual’s MWGS points.
4) Youth may enter and show a maximum of four wethers at any individual show.
5) Youth must show their own wether unless there are two or more wethers entered by the same youth in a particular class. This includes champion drives.
6) Wethers must have ownership declared before weigh-in and may not be entered or shown in another youth’s name after being weighed-in.
7) Wethers must have all kid teeth still in place.
8) Wethers must be slick shorn to an even length above the knee and hock but excluding the head and tail switch.
9) Wethers may not have any testicular tissue or exhibit behavioral signs of still being intact males.
10) Prizes for the top five in each division will be awarded at the end of the year.
11) The highest two point totals at the end of the year, regardless of age, will be awarded Grand and Reserve Overall respectively.
The Grand and Reserve will each receive a special award.

13) the MWGS reserves the right to drug test any animal exhibited in a series show for any illegal substances.
14) No points will be awarded for Grand or Reserve Champion at a show.
15) Participation is not limited to Ohio youth. Any youth may participate and accumulate points in the series. However, Ohio State fair rules prohibit out of state exhibitors in the Junior Fair.
16) The coordinators of each individual show reserve the right to refuse entry into the
show to any animal that exhibits a transmissible disease, fungus, etc.; or to any individual
or family not acting in an appropriate manner as deemed by the show committee without
refunding any monies.
17) Ethical fitting practices must be observed at all times with no drenching or adding of artificial color accepted. For specific information on ethical fitting practices see the Ohio Administrative Code 901-19-33 and 901-19-38. |
